DALE COUNTY ALABAMA HISTORY HOMEPAGE Dale County is located in the southeast corner of Alabama.The first settlers of Dale County were probably veterans of the Indian Wars fought in Alabama in 1813 to 1817 under the leadership of General Andrew Jackson. During these wars a Block House was built on the northwest side of the Choctawhatchee River.This was a log structure with portholes through which the soldiers could fire in the event of an attack.By 1820 several settlements were present in the area which would become Dale County in 1824. By 1827 several families were in Dale County including the Dowling and Matthews families.
