The Oklahoma City Bombing Case: The Second Trial The Verdict Nichols Guilty of Lesser Charges--But May Still Face the Death Penalty (DENVER, COLO. - Dec. 23) After six days of deliberations, jurors found Oklahoma City bombing co-defendant Terry Nichols guilty of eight lesser counts of involuntary manslaughter. However, Nichols was found not guilty of first-degree murder in the deaths of eight federal agents who died during the explosion that destroyed the Alfred P. Murrah Building on April 19, 1995. He was also acquitted of the actual use of the bomb. Despite the acquittals, Nichols was convicted of conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction (the truck bomb that caused the explosion).
