THE BRONZE DRUMS: A LINK TO ANCIENT CULTURES Ancient cultures often leave behind clues, or artifacts, that help us to learn about that culture and the society it created. The bronze drums of Southeast Asia are one of the greatest clues scientists have found to understand how the cultures of this area were structured, how they shared knowledge and traded wares with eachother. The bronze drums were created during a time in history called, "The Bronze Age." This was a time when people learned the technique of melting metals (called metallurgy) so that they could mold them into objects they needed: jewelry, tools, instruments, urns, statues, and more.
