FINE ART PANORAMIC IMAGES FINE ART PANORAMIC IMAGES The Panoramic Photograph Creations Of Stanley Stern Want to see truly spectacular photographs? Panoramic photographs are the ticket. What does panoramic mean in photography? It means an all around view. A Panoramic Photograph can be a view of 360 degrees or more or less. This means that you can see whats behind, on the sides, and in front of you. It's really the way we see things. When we are looking at our world we don't just see the 60 degree angle in front of our eyes that an ordinary photograph provides you. We turn our heads. We look to the sides. We look to see whats in back of us. We look all around so that we can take it all in. We have a better understanding that way. That way we encompass it all. That's what a Panoramic Photogra Read More

Jim Cheetham - Kites - Night Flying - Photography

Votes:0
Night Flying - Photography The simplest way to photograph LED-lit kites is to put the camera on a stable tripod, set the shutter for 10 to 15 seconds, then fly the kite through the field of view. Other lighting tricks can be used - standard camera flash, torches (I use a D6 Maglite) and so on. I'll be trying strobe flash, as soon as I can get hold of the equipment. We haven't yet tried video, but that's next on the list. Be aware of background light. The orange sodium lights of a built-up area soon build up to overwhelm the light of your kite, cars have an annoying habit of swinging their headlights through the field of view, and I've even been caught out by a 15 mile distant lighthouse! However, if your background is properly dark, you'll have to make some area light on every fourth expos Read More

Photo Know-How - Tech Tips - Night Photography

Votes:0
Tech Tips Series - Night Photography by Michael Reese Much During my career as a commercial/architectural photographer I was frequently called upon to do night photographs. For many years I approached the exposure problem by either relying on published tables or bracketing extensively. Finally, out of frustration I decided to work out a series of dependable exposures. The basic requirements for night photography are a camera which is capable of locking the shutter open (B setting), a sturdy tripod and a self-locking cable release. Since most skyline/urban shots are lit with a stew of light sources (tungsten, fluorescent, sodium vapor, mercury vapor, lucalox...) the color will generally not be true, but I have found a 40 magenta filter yields acceptable color balance. Photographing Fall Color

Votes:0
How to Photograph Fall Landscapes © Chuck DeLaney, NYI Dean There is no better time of year to take landscape photos than autumn. Those wonderful blue sky days of October naturally lead anyone with a camera to want to record the glorious fall color on film. So, what are the secrets to photographing those beautiful autumn images? According to Chuck DeLaney, Dean of the New York Institute of Photography (NYI), the world's oldest and largest photography school, the secret is to start by taking a good landscape photograph. Good landscape photos (and good photographs in general) start by following some simple rules. First and foremost, is to know the subject of your photography. In the case of all landscapes you would want to look for subjects that capture the theme of autumn. So, before you sn Read More

Photographing Fireworks

PHOTOGRAPHING FIREWORKS Inexact recommendations for an inexact shooting situation! Here are some helpful recommendations, things to keep in mind before you venture out to shoot fireworks. Please remember that these are my own opinions. Every shooting situation is different and contains its own set of variables. The key is to relax, don't get too hung up on exact exposures, and shoot like crazy! Tripod You're definitely going to need a tripod. Since your exposures will run anywhere from 2 to 30 seconds, you'll need the tripod for stability and to ensure smooth, sharp photographs of the shell trails and the fireworks bursts. A monopod simply won't cut it. Cable release For ease of shooting, you'll also need a cable release so you can sit back, click the shutter, and still enjoy the show. In Read More

Photoshop Professional Tips & Tricks

Votes:0
WRITTEN BY ARTEMY LEBEDEV BACK IN 1996 Welcome to the «Photoshop Professional Tips & Tricks» page! There are many reasons why I spent my time and created this page. Some of them are obvious — I haven't seen any page similar to this one. Most of the things described here are either published in books or are unknown to the wide public at all. Another reason for creating this page is because I'm too often asked about how I made this or that thing on my pages. When I describe something about Photoshop I assume that you're familiar with basic computer operations and Photoshop itself. If you feel unprepared, check the program's manual — Adobe spent some time writing it and it definetely worths looking in (RTFM). It's a good manual. Since I work on a Mac, some things are Mac-related. I Read More
