Their milk tends to be higher in protein and butter fat than other breeds. They tend to be a little bit more stubborn than other dairy goats and make a distinctive sound . Even Nubian kids sound like they are complaining. LaManchas have ears that are so small that it looks like they don't have ears and they can also be any color. Pygmy Goat Info The Pygmy goat originated in Africa and was imported to the US in the 1950s. As its name implies, it's smaller than diary goats, but it produces a respectable amount of milk for its weight and food consumption. Most people in our area raise them for show and fun instead of meat or milk. Pygmy goat wethers may also be shown and they can be purchased relatively inexpensively. Some kids in 4-H like to raise Pygmy goats because they are easy to raise and handle and they are affectionate, cute, lovable and playful. A full grown doe or whether ranges from 16 to 23 inches at the withers and they usually weigh from 40 to 70 pounds. Pygmy goats are year-round breeders so kids may be available at any time of the year. A litter usually consists of 1-3 goats and the kids weigh from 2-4 Read More

BRIGHTON'S MEMORIAL PAGE August 1981-November 2004 Thank you for visiting and reading this love story! Brighton was the love of our life for over 23 years. The pictures below cover his life with Jeff and I. He came to us as a scared kitten from the Denver pound. He was one day from being euthanized. I guess that is one reason why Jeff chose him, that and the way Brighton stayed back in the cage, regal and aloof. That was the last time he was ever aloof to us. He became our faithful friend-always ready to please and shower us with affection. Of course we loved him as well. He was funny, playful, affectionate, loyal, brave and psychic. Read More

Goat Information

Goat Information Also Known as the African Pygmy Goat Information Network Personality Pygmy Goats are friendly when they want to be and always comical if you have a good sense of humor. Sometimes they will do things that you don't necessarily think is cute but it is rather difficult to train them to stop doing goat things, But it is not impossible, because after all a goat does have an I.Q. of 60. By goat things I mean, like jumping on your car, pulling your clothes off your clothes line, or eating your favorite rose bush. Of course they do these things only because they are curious, not because they don't like you. You can however, goat-proof your yard and everyone will be happy. All in all goats do make really nice pets, and I know that you would enjoy having some. I say some because goa Read More
