Votes:0 Bird Droppings FAQ Most people regard what's in the bottom of their bird's
cage as something they'd rather not look at, but much can be learned by taking a
closer look. IN GENERAL: We recomend you use newspaper to cover your cage bottom. Its
non-toxic, inexpensive and gives you a clear view of what your bird has
dropped on it. This should be changed a least once a day and examined at that
time as it can tell you many things. You can see what your bird has eaten or not
eaten, how his fecal droppings have looked during the course of the day and
even find the missing piece to that toy he disassembled. THE NORMAL DROPPING: Normal droppings in pet birds consist of three parts. The stool
is coiled or partially coiled and varies in color from rich green to brown
depending on the bird's diet. It w Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 Budgie Info Hi! You are the person or bird to read this page. Okay, I finally did it. I created a page all about budgies just like Hillary asked me to! Now, put your self in my feet. (I don't wear shoes) What would write about your own species?! I bet you would write about useless stuff that no one cares about. Bird's would not. We are much more intelligent than that! I knew the day was coming when I'd have to sit down and blab about my kind...so I've planned ahead..so this page will be exceptionally interesting, possibly humorous, and basically true. Enjoy and read on! Simple Facts about Parakeets The title of this section is wrong. Parakeets is our classification. Parakeets include the budgies, Quakers, and ringlets. Votes:0 Tricks For Raising Canaries Updated July 20, 1998 I know I'm no expert, but I've raised canaries, finches, budgies, cockatiels, and a Moluccan Cockatoo for the past 30 years. I've only had one bird die (a Zebra finch - I think it may have been the egg food on a particularly hot day) in all that time. I will always have my cockatoo, I'm still raising canaries, and my cockatiels have just finished weaning their first clutch. This page is going to be SUPER informal; I'm just going to jot down the tricks I use that work for me as I think of them. I hope they help someone else in the fancy! Save a scoop from a small can of Kaytee Exact to use for measuring seed or pellets from the buckets or bags of whichever you serve to your birds. Votes:0 Cockatiels and Lovebirds Cockatiels and Lovebirds A small introduction Warning: This is just an intro page. I am not a trained
aviculturalist. This is not and should not be your final guide to
bird-keeping!! IF YOUR BIRD IS SICK OR INJURED PLEASE TAKE IT TO AN
AVIAN VET!!! I'm limiting this to cockatiels and lovebirds because I have only
owned two cockatiels and one lovebird (and a bunch of untame budgies).
Larger parrots share much in common with these smaller members of the
family, but their needs and their abilities differ greatly. If you are planning on getting a pet bird, or are a new owner, I
highly recommend the magazine BIRD TALK . In addition, you
should buy/borrow books on bird keeping at a library, bookstore, or
good petstore. And definitely locate a good, qualified avian vet

Votes:0 CHOOSING A BIRD WHERE DO I BEGIN? First, you want to take into consideration these things: What can I afford? Cost varies according to the type of bird being purchased. You can get a pair of Finches for about twenty dollars, a Budgie for about the same. Cockatiels range from $40 to $100, Amazons $250 to $800...and a Hyacinth Macaw can command upwards from $6,000! Set a budget, and work from there. But let the buyer beware of "bargain birds"--they're usually not worth it. Hand-fed birds are well worth the extra cost. How much space will the bird need? The larger birds and even some of the smaller ones, are very active and need large cages and areas to play in. It's not fair to cramp a bird in a small cage. Do I have the *time* for a bird? This is probably the most important question. Birds Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 The Barn Owl (Tyto alba) The Barn Owl has nearly world-wide distribution, being absent from only the high Latitudes. It has been introduced into some Pacific islands for rat control and is provided nest boxes in Malaysian palm nut groves for the same purpose. While the barn owl is found all over the US, its numbers are particularly high in California and the Southwest. Farmers and ranchers are increasingly attracted to the barn owl's ability to control rodents better than traps, poison,or cats and at no cost. Barn owls in favorable habitats produce large broods once or twice a year. Each young owl as it nears maturity will eat the equivalent of a dozen mice per night if such prey is available. Adult barn owls kill and consume the equivalent of one large rat or gopher per night. The Owl Rehab Read More Go to Site
