brass game

Votes:0
The wind instruments belonging to the brass family are usually made of brass, as you would expect from their name! However, they can also be made of other metals -- or of wood, tusk, horn, or shell. Brass players produce sound by blowing into the mouthpiece of the instrument. To set the air in motion, they "buzz" their lips together. Their lips are acting much like the reeds of the woodwinds. Some brass family members that play in the orchestra are the trumpet , the horn , the trombone , and the tuba . The orchestra usually has one or two of each of these instruments, and sometimes more. Brass instruments are loud and their tone carries a long way. For this reason, they are often used in military bands, which play outside much of the time. Brass instruments are really just long metal tubes Read More

percussion game

&nbsp The percussion family is huge! It includes any instrument that produces sounds when it is struck, scraped or shaken. A percussionist in an orchestra may play as many as a dozen different instrument s, since different pieces of music need different kinds of percussion. Struck percussion instruments can be simple, such as a drum that you hit with the hand or with drumsticks. Or they can be as complex as a piano, which has 88 keys, three pedals, and lots of gadgets inside! Other percussion instruments that are struck to produce sound include the timpani , the xylophone , cymbals , the triangle , the snare drum , the Bass Drum , woodblocks, gongs, and chimes. These are all used in the orchestra at one time or another. Percussion instruments that are scraped to produce a sound are a littl Read More

string game

Votes:0
&nbsp The String section has by far the most players in it - sometimes as many as 60. This is because it takes many strings to create a rich sound that balances well with the wood winds, brass and percussion. There are four kinds of stringed instruments in the orchestra: violins , violas , cellos , and double basses . All are made of wood and have a similar curvy shape, but their sizes are different. All stringed instruments have strings stretched over them. The strings are made of gut, steel, or nylon. They are played with a bow - a long stick that has horsehair attached to it. Usually the bow is drawn across the strings. This is called bowing . Stringed instruments can also be struck with the bow. Or they can be played by plucking or strumming the strings with the fingers. &nbsp Cool kid Read More

woodwinds game

Votes:0
&nbsp Woodwind instruments use vibrating air to produce many different musical sounds. Despite their name, they are not all made of wood. They may also be made from metal, bone a nd ivory. They look like long sticks, and players blow air into them to create sounds. The different shape and materials of each instrument help to create its unique sound. Some woodwind family members that play in the orchestra are the flute , th e clarinet , the oboe , and the bassoon . Sometimes the saxophone also joins the orchestra. Woodwinds can be played either as flutes or with a reed. Flutes have a hole that the player blows across. The air vibrating through the instrument creates a sound. Something similar happens with instruments that have a reed attached to them - like the oboe, clarinet, and bassoon. Read More
