Texel DM, the hyper-developed muscling sheep breed of the future Prof. P.L. Leroy University of LiÈge Belgium pascal.leroy@ulg.ac.be Belgium is famous for its hyper-developed muscling Belgian Blue cattle and PiÉtrain pig. Texel DM is a new line which presents all the characteristics of double muscling and is considered the leader in Belgium for terminal crossing. Texel DM breeders have always selected animals for muscling development when preserving size and structure. The animals are quite different from the other European Texel lines in their muscle development, and especially in their better carcass quality with a lower fat content and higher values of killing-out percentage. Welcome to the Navajo-Churro Sheep Association

Votes:0
More than Four Hundred Years Ago ... the first Churro sheep were brought into the Southwest by Don Juan Onate. The fact that these sheep still exist today is a testimony to their endurance and endearment. No other sheep population in the history of the world has survived such selective pressure with such dignity and spirit. Even though the Navajo-Churro breed still exists, it is considered a Rare Breed. The gene pool is presently large enough to maintain the breed type with the diversity of available unrelated lines. Fortunately for breeders, a well established network of registered stock is available, scattered throughout the US and Canada. Join us in conserving and promoting this heritage breed that still provides wool for the nation's professional fiber artists and is a vital food in ma Read More
