Strategic Research Initiative In Food Safety FS SRI Goals National Center for Infectious Diseases reports an estimated 14 million illnesses, 60,000 hospitalizations and 1,800 deaths occur as a result of food borne diseases. Audits International reports that food safety practices in homes are no better than in restaurants, critical violations occurring during meal preparation.
