How does one troubleshoot a computer monitor? ...Won't come on at all, will not always come on when the turn the computer is started, occasionally goes blank (black, no cursor), or has a color problem? A. Check for loose power plug (wall and monitor ends). Verify the outlet is good (plug a lamp into it). Check the plug on the monitor for bent or pushed-in pins. There will probably be some missing pins, and that is normal. Monitors don’t use all of the pins in a DB15 plug. I use a tweaker (small screw driver) to straighten them. Be very careful; they can break easily, depending on the monitor. Check the monitor cable to be sure it is fully plugged-in and make sure it is screwed down. Wiggle it at both ends to se Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 Welcome to The PC Guide! It seems that either your browser does not support frames, or you have them disabled. The PC Guide makes extensive use of frames to facilitate easier navigation through the site. The PC Guide site uses a hierarchical structure of pages. The general rule of thumb is that the information on the site is displayed in the "Contents" frame, called "C", while the links deeper into the structure are in the "Index" frame, called "I". You can find information on the site without using frames in three different ways: Some text browsers, like Lynx, don't support frames but allow browsing of framed sites by providing links to each frame from this page. If you see links to "I" and "C" above this text, you can use these Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 Snake Oil, Miracle Cures, and Computer Monitors So you think you are ready to buy one of those really hi-res monitors that
you've been hearing about. Your graphics display adapter can produce those
high resolutions, and now you're ready for a monitor to match it. It might come as a surprise to you that there are relatively few monitors
capable of fully resolving some of the higher resolutions. So before making a purchase, read the text below to find out what I learned,
and consult the Monitor specifications table, then perhaps
do a little research of your own, and contribute what you've learned to this
document. Another source of possibly useful information is an article printed in Computer Shopper recently. While I don't agree with the
author of that article on a couple of points, I think Read More Go to Site
