Reading Counts Resumes Reading Counts is a special program that allows students to read books on their reading levels and take tests based upon what they have read. The students then receive points for each test that they successfully complete. Once a month they can redeem their points for prizes. HOME MEDIA CENTER Media Specialist: Mrs.Yockey Media Clerk: Mrs.Platt Melaleuca Elementary School has an open media center meaning students may visit and check out books all day every day. The media specialist offers instruction in media skills and literature appreciation to all classes on a rotating basis. The media center supports the reading program Accelerated Reader which is used in grades two through five. Students read library books on their individual reading levels and take comprehension tests on a computer. Awards are given based on points earned.
