A description and some pictures of my own micro layout shows that I'm not only planning but also building (although slowly). Meadows Creek This is my current layout project - in H0n3 again. Here you can find information about the rolling stock, structures and follow the progress in my diary. Trackplans Having little room I can't build a large basement empire. So I came up with several trackplans for dioramas, modules or switching layouts that can be seen here and might inspire you to build your own layout. Remember: no room is no excuse! Read More

Dr. KÖnig?s MÄrklin-Digital-Page: Software-Controller using an old PC | by Dr. Michael KÖnig (Dr. KÖnig - Dr. Koenig) | Model railroad - MÄrklin (MÄrklin - Maerklin) - Digital

Software controller using an old PC No updating - for newest version please read the German Text! Concept The first step to take was to thoroughly understand the old Motorola format and the working principle and circuit of the transmission-IC - the Motorola -chip MC145026, on which the original MÄrklin Control-Unit and the majority of third party and do-it-yourself products is based. Thereafter the design of an simple controller seemed relatively easy and cost-effective to accomplish, as the prices of original MÄrklin products are not justified and thus prohibitive. At first I made several attempts to develop a comparably simple circuit consisting of the least number of components possible, which should nevertheless include a turnout control and substitute the MÄrklin Control-Unit. What's New Hobart Subdivision - The Prototype Manitou & Southwestern Railway - The Model Layouts I have visited Tex Wilson's Railroad Art Sign the M&SW Visitors log Welcome to the Manitou and Southwestern Railway's rail head. The M&SW is an HO replica of the Saint Louis and San Francisco Railway's Western Division, Hobart Subdivision. It depicts Southwestern Oklahoma's prairie cities of Snyder, Manitou, and Frederick during the hard times and dust bowl days of the 1930's. Operations begin at two staging areas: Enid, Oklahoma and Vernon, Texas. Daily freight and passenger trains run between the two. In Snyder, the Western Division interchanges with the Southwestern Division. In Frederick, the Katy interchanges with the Western Division. model railroad electronic circuit lists

Electrical Circuits you can build! One thing I have tried to do is not show a schematic drawing. I feel that this scares many people away from electronic projects. For those who know how to read a schematic, please do not feel insulted. Please note that the color codes on the resistors in any of these drawings are not accurate - the written descriptions are, but the color codes in the pictures are not. If you have a favorite circuit, send me a copy and I'll try to include it here. Many of these circuits come from Model Railroader, Railroad model Craftsman and numerous electronic hobby magazines. Sources of parts include Radio Shack (1-800-843-7422), Digi-Key (1-800-344-4539), All Electronics (1-800-826-5432), and Mouser (1-800-346-6873). Model Railroad Scenery

Scenery - 97-07-30 To me, scenery is as important as the motive power, rolling stock, and rails as a part of a model railroad. The basic techniques are not hard, can be mastered by most everyone, and bring a model railroad to life. When I was first starting out in the hobby after a 30 year hiatus, I needed to get reacquainted with the way things were currently being done. In the 1960s, scenery was built up over 1/4" square metal mesh or 'chicken wire'. Since that time, the 'hardshell' techniques have become the favorite. Variations using built-up layers of foam with cast foam rocks have provided a lighter weight alternative. Whatever the basic technique used, the results are what count. My reacquaintance started at the local hobby shop. There are a number of great books on scenery techniqu Read More

Hi. I like to photograph trains ... model or prototype. What you'll find here is a set of photos of train layouts in and around Saskatoon , Saskatchewan. Most of the pictures are of layouts belonging to members of the Prairie Rail Workshop . Just click on the small photo for a view of the larger version. K. Brown CN Edson Division Keith Brown This is a pic of my old layout before we moved into our new house. Its (roughly) based on the area around Edson Alberta in the foothills of the Rockies. Same scene on same layout ... different angle. This is one end of the Edson yard, includin an old steamer on display. You can see a similar sort of display at the yard in Jasper, Alberta (so that sort of makes it prototypical, right?). Same corner as above but a few years earlier. Another corner of th Read More

The Dustball Express

The Dustball Express Building an N-scale model railroad under your bed Most people who build model railroads are lucky enough to live in places that have lots and lots of space. A few of us are crazy enough to live in Manhattan shoebox apartments and have to improvise if we want to build anything more than the simplest circle of track. I started with that circle of track, but it got dull after a while so the rails grew and grew and the space under my bed got more and more crowded. Thankfully, it eventually got less dusty too. I have to confess that I'm really quite new to model railroading. I'm not spending my days in railyards looking for authentic buildings to model in balsa, nor do I worry too much about prototypes. The trains I'm most familiar with are Amtrak's Northeast Corridor route Read More

THE YOSEMITE VALLEY RAILROAD

Votes:0
FROM THE TURN OF THE CENTURY UNTIL 1945 , it was possible to take a wonderful train ride from Merced in the San Joaquin Valley to El Portal, California to visit Yosemite National Park. Rather than endure dusty roads and undependable automobiles, vacationers could relax in Pullman accommodations or on the deck of a beautiful observation car and enjoy the scenery along the way. Hello, my name is Jack Burgess. I have been researching this railroad for the past 35 years. Not only do I collect information, photos, and paper "artifacts" from this wonderful railroad, but I am also building a large HO scale layout based on the YVRR in my home in Newark, California in the San Francisco Bay Area.
