Votes:0 The center of the ancient world Egypt, one of the oldest countries on the earth, has a long, colorful
past. Its history can be divided into 4 periods: The Pharaonic (3200 to 526 B.C.) The Greek-Ptolemaic (332 to 30 B.C.) The Roman-Christian (30 B.C. to 639 A.D.) The Islamic (639 A.D. to the present day) During the first period, the Egyptians were surprisingly advanced. They
were probably the first shipbuilders in the world. In fact, the Saitic Pharaoh
Necho (610-595 B.C.) sent an expedition to circumnavigate Africa 2000 years
before the Portugese King Henry the Navigator did the same. Ships were necessary
because they made travel and trade on the Nile feasible (as opposed to caravans

Votes:0 Ancient Egypt: 13th - 19th Dynasties After the next dynasty, the thirteenth, the power of the kingdom dwindled again. Foreign invaders entered Egypt from Asia and succeeded in capturing the throne. Who these invaders were or by what means of marriage or of conquest they became rulers of Egypt, we do not know. The later Egyptians hated them and never willingly spoke of them. If they erected monuments, later generations destroyed these. The invaders were never referred to except by a contemptuous name, the "Hyksos," which implied that they were ignorant and savage. These Hyksos, or "shepherd kings," came from Syria, and were probably a wandering nomadic tribe like that of Abraham. They were admitted into lower Egypt, perhaps peacefully, gradually acquired an ascendancy there, stormed Memphis Read More Go to Site

From the start of the Old Kingdom around 2686 BCE, an era of rule by pharaohs of more than 30 family dynasties continued almost unbroken for nearly 3000 years. After the glorious New Kingdom, the age of the Egyptian pharaohs ended with decline and rule by the Ptolemies. One of the oldest in history the ancient Egyptian civilization, emerges from pre-history into the period of more or less precise chronological record up to a date perhaps not far removed from 3400 B.C. This highly developed but in many respects static civilization lasted for over 3000 years, during which it spread its influence far and wide. Some archaeologists, indeed, claim to see in all other civilizations signs of an Egyptian origin. It is universally agreed, however, that in technical arts Egyptian workers pointed the way to the rest of the world, and it is to them that all must turn for the first discovery of those facts that made science possible. Fed by three major sources—the White Nile which begins at Lake Victoria, the Atbara, and the Blue Nile, which joins the Nile near Khartoum in the Sudan—the river rushes down into the Nile Valley and beyond that into the rich alluvial plain of the Nile delta. Swollen by rains, the river yearly floods the Nile Valley, so that the valley literally turns into isolated islands separated by the high waters. In an area without any rainfall, the Nile brings water and life, and in its periodic flooding, it also brings nutrient-rich silt which it deposits on the agricultural la Read More Go to Site

It started first in Egypt and from there it moved to Phoenicia, Carthage, Greece and Rome. Egypt is the gift of "Habby", and the Nile is an area surrounded by the barren desert. Archaeological evidence suggests that early dwellers in the Nile Valley were influenced by cultures of the Near East, but the degree of this influence is yet to be determined. and the advent of more sophisticated medical techniques, new life
was breathed into the study of disease and health in the ancient
Nile Valley. It was this period that saw the academic study of
Egyptian disease segregated into three distinct categories. The first is the study
