It encourages the children to work as a team, organising their actions to achieve the desired outcome as quickly (but as safely) as possible. 1) For a class of about 30 children, split them into four evenly-sized groups. Arrange the apparatus as in the following diagram. Brown rectangles are benches. Blue rectangles are mats, and the yellow area is the floor. 2) Remind the children about safety in P.E. and ask each group to quietly and sensibly stand on a bench. 3) Explain that the benches are islands and that they are safe places. The mats and floor are the sea, and there are lots of sh Read More Go to Site
Votes:0 Warm-Up and Cool-Down Games Ideas Other PE Ideas Share Your Own Ideas Fruit Basket Subject: Physical Education (This idea was contributed by Michelle Maker) Age Range: 5 to 7 Divide the class into 4 groups and have them move into each corner of the gym or play area. Give each of the groups a fruit name such as apples, oranges, bananas and watermelons. Call two of the fruit names and those groups have to run and change places. They maintain the same name throughout the game. When you call "Fruit Basket" all of the children run and sit in the center of the gym. (I use this to end the game). Caution: With the little ones, this can cause collisions! This also works well under the parachute. They should then split into pairs, and each pair of children should stand about 15 m apart. Each group of four children should have one large hoop (big enough for two children to fit inside). Instructions: One pair stands in a hoop, and, without using their hands, lift up the hoop. Then, staying inside the hoop, they should run to the other pair. When they reach the second pair, the first pair should drop the hoop. The second pair should then pick it up (no hands!), and run to the original marker and back again (with both students in the hoop). The first pair then Read More Go to Site
Votes:0 Warm-Up and Cool-Down Games Ideas Other PE Ideas Share Your Own Ideas Passing Skills Subject: Physical Education Age Range: 5 to 11 This simple activity involves passing a ball from one end of the line to another. The children should throw to the person standing diagonally opposite them (as shown in the diagram below) and they should aim to be as quick as possible, while still being accurate. Any type of ball is suitable, although a larger ball may be more appropriate for younger children. There are a number of variations to this activity: WHOLE CLASS - The whole class can take part, trying to pass the ball up the line without dropping it. The activity can also be timed, with the children aiming to move the ball from one end to the other as quickly as possible. They could also compete to b Read More Go to Site

Everyone should put their left hand in the circle, and hold someone else's left hand. 3) Now everyone, should put in their right hand, and hold someone else's right hand. 4) WITHOUT letting go of each other's hands, the children should untangle themselves!
