		Law speeds process for parole violators ^Votes:0 Law speeds process for parole violators By MARY ALICE ROBBINS Morris News Service AUSTIN - A new state law that takes effect Jan. 1 will shorten the time ''blue warrant'' parole violators spend in county jails at local taxpayers' expense. A blue warrant is included in the packet sent to the parole officer responsible for supervising an inmate conditionally released from prison. If the parolee doesn't report to the officer, fails a drug test or commits another technical violation, the blue warrant is pulled and the parolee must be arrested by county law enforcement officials. Legislation sponsored by Sen. Robert Duncan, R-Lubbock, requires a revocation hearing to be held within 60 days after a parolee is arrested to determine if he or she has violated the conditions for release from prison.
