Then she remembered a magazine article she had read about how money for the care of needy children with TB was successfully raised in Denmark, far

Votes:0 This exhibit presents the 50 years of Scouts on U.S. stamps commemorating Scouting. Since 1907 when Scouting started in England, the slogan "do a good turn daily" has earned this movement recognition in the United States and around the world. The selfless deeds of countless Girl and Boy Scouts has been recognized repeatedly by over 100 countries in the form of commemorative stamps. Scouting in the U.S. began officially in 1910. Although collectors produced many Scout-related cachets and sought special postal cancels, the U.S. was not to issue a Scout postage stamp until 1948, almost forty years after it?s start. Votes:0 BRITISH COMMONWEALTH POSTMARKS by Robert S. Cragg I think it must have been the late Lester Brookman who got me started on collecting postmarks. This is going on fifty years ago. I was looking at some Victorian Br. Guiana low values and there was "MAIL BOAT Ja 1, 1901", if I recollect the date correctly. I thought I wouldn't buy it because it was heavily struck and covered the whole stamp. Mr. Brookman convinced me it was a nice stamp, well worth the 5 or 10 cents and, of course, he was quite right. Now, after years of searching through dealer stocks, circuit books and auction catalogs, as well as many fine books and articles, I've put together some lists that might help you identify that troublesome partial postmark. Attached are lists of villages and other offices where you may find a ci Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 When this site was first conceived, we used this silly name for a title. Still, it says what it is so we do not want to change it. WELCOME TO A FUN SITE (if you are into stamps, that is). On this site you can find lots of stamps that have been posted here because we or some of our cyberfriends did not know the full story behind them. Initially, the aim was to post stamps here with an unknown origin. But over time, stamps have appeared whose origin is obvious, but do not seem to be listed in one of the standard catalogues such as Yvert et Tellier, Michel, Scott or Stanley Gibbons. Still, we would like to avoid posting stamps with questions such as "How much is this worth" -- that is not the aim of the page. Both of us are collectors of as many entries (as we call them) as possible Read More Go to Site

for contemporary (very recent) postal history, but due to numerous requests,
the focus of this site will be on modern U.S. postal history produced since
the introduction of the first, true, modern postal issue of stamps -- the

than Liberties is eligible, even some items that date back to 1949, since
that was the first year of the modern air mail postcard rate. Other than the time frame and Liberty Series, I do not plan to hold this
page to any rigid format. Basically, I just tired waiting for something si Read More Go to Site
