It is exhilarating to see or learn about unique birds, and bird families structure the avian world into the most discrete and unique groups. Votes:0 SONGS OF BRAZILIAN BIRDS | Portuguese | Fran?ais | The luxuriant diversity of Brazilian nature also expresses itself in the huge variety of bird songs. The selection made for this CD tries to illustrate the richness of the biodiversity in Brazil. Songs amongst the most beautiful, strange, or rare birds from all habitats have been selected from Amap? to Rio Grande do Sul. The Rufous-bellied Thrush (Nr. l) which opens this natural concert, makes a perfect example of melody and versatility. Other cases of varied songs are those of other thrushes (7, 15, 29), of wrens (22, 39, 46), and of the Lesser Seed-Finch (3). The Chopi Blackbird (12), the White-naped Jay (23), and the Chalk-browed Mockingbird (42), incorporate imitations of other birds into their song, but the absolute champion is Lawren Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 Standardized Bird Lists Standardized Bird Lists Introduction Anyone who has ever tried to get a database to import a lifelist, or tried to generate a regional checklist from a database of trip lists, or tried to write a program to create a database from a published regional checklists, understands that the lack of any standards for bird lists is a major obstacle to fully exploiting bird data. In this article I propose using the Standardized Generalized Markup Language (SGML) to define Document Type Definitions (DTDs) for bird checklists and trip lists. The resulting DTDs are the Standardized Checklist Format (SCLF) and Standardized Trip List Format (STLF) . I believe this approach solves many of the problems of data storage and retrieval for birding data. The Symbiosis Between Checklists a Read More Go to Site

So I closed them again and watched the bright red cardinal strike a pose at the top of the maple tree. Share! he proclaimed with a loud, descending slurred note, but what he meant was that he definitely would not share our backyard with any other male cardinal. And then a magnolia warbler moved through middle level of the maple tree, examining leaves for insects. It paused from time to time to sing wheedle wheedle, sweetie-oh, just in case a potential mate might be around. A robin perched on the trembling telephone wire and sang his long, repetitive song, Cheerily? Cheer up. Cheerily. Before the sun rose, at least a dozen species of birds had joined the Read More Go to Site
