Votes:0 About TableTrainer TableTrainer is a maths educational program designed to assist in the task of learning
multiplication tables. Maths "games" don't always hold children's interest for long. So rather than create a maths game, I designed something that could be used once a day for about 10 minutes. The logic being, that once they had used TableTrainer, they could then carry on with the more serious task of playing their latest video game. The program allows you to practice and test multiplication tables from 1 to 12. You can select which tables you practice or are tested on. The results for all tests are stored. The results page has a graph of all your tests so you can compare them. The results page also shows which calculations were wrong, so you can identify any problem areas. Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 --> Calculation Tips & Tricks Back to Math Tips & Tricks Multiplication Tips Multiplying by five Jenny Logwood writes: Here is an easy way to find an answer to a 5 times question. If you are multiplying 5 times an even number: halve the number you are multiplying by and place a zero after the number. Example: 5 × 6, half of 6 is 3, add a zero for an answer of 30. Another example: 5 × 8, half of 8 is 4, add a zero for an answer of 40. If you are multiplying 5 times an odd number: subtract one from the number you are multiplying, then halve that number and place a 5 after the resulting number. Example: 5 × 7: -1 from 7 is 6, half of 6 is 3, place a 5 at the end of the resulting number to produce the number 35. Another example: 5 × 3: -1 from 3 is 2, half of 2 is 1, place a 5 at the end of th Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 Multiplication If someone dumped a jar of pennies in front of you and asked you to count all of them, how would you approach the task? Would you count each penny one by one? Probably not! You would most likely pile pennies into groups of two, three, or possibly five pennies, then add the groups. If you put the pennies into groups of 3 and formed 10 groups of pennies, it might not take too long to add 3 ten times for a total of 30 pennies. You might even skip-count by 3. But, if there were 300 pennies, skip-counting by 3, or adding 3 one hundred times would take quite a long time. The easiest way to find the total number of items in equal groups is to use multiplication. Multiplication allows you to do repeated addition quickly and efficiently. You can write a multiplication sentence to sho Read More Go to Site

Votes:0 OB Multiplication Tables Old Babylonian multiplication tables come in two varieties. There are the so-called single tables, listing multiples of a single number, called the principal number, and there are combined tables which have a number of single tables on one tablet. Often, multiplication tables occur on the same tablet as other, unrelated, information and it is clear that many of the tablets we have were school practice copies made by students learning their multiplication tables. Single Multiplication Tables Single multiplication tables list the multiples of a single number, known as the principal number, p . Because the Mesopotamians used a sexagesimal (base 60) number system, you might expect that a multiplication table would have to list all the multiples from 1 p , 2 p , ..., al Read More Go to Site

IDEA Teaching the basic facts for any of the four fundamental operations of
arithmetic is a task most teachers approach in a very organized manner...beginning
with the easier facts and gradually adding more and more of the complex

see this as a seemingly endless task that is attacked with no rhyme or reason.
The following activity is designed to help the teacher promote a feeling
within the classroom that says, "Here is our task, to learn one-hundred
multiplication facts. Let's set up a game plan to get this accomplished!" At the time this activity is commenced, students should have a solid understanding
