IO 1104 - Ming China

Votes:0
Modern World History A Unit I - The World in the Fifteenth Century Instructional Objective 1104 Ming China Identify relevant physical and cultural characteristics of Ming China c. 1500. Focus Statements 1104.1 Ming China occupied much of what is present-day China. The country had developed in relative isolation, unlike many other early civilizations. Much of this isolation was caused by natural barriers that served as China's borders--the Pacific Ocean to the east, the mountains to the west, and the jungles and mountains to the south. This isolation impacted the Chinese belief that they were the center of the universe. Chinese civilization developed along three powerful rivers, much like other civilizations. Most of the Chinese contact with the outside world was along the " Silk Road ." Re Read More

Teacher Notes Picture courtesy of Regent Tours Banpo Village: Gone, But Not Forgotten Banpo is a village that existed some 6,000 years ago near Xi'an in the Shaanxi Province of China. Artifacts that have been unearthed from the Banpo site are all that remains of this prehistoric clan-based community. The village grounds occupied a physical area of 50,000 square meters, and consisted primarily of a residential section, a pottery area, and burial grounds. Five excavations that were conducted from 1953 to 1957 revealed the remains of 45 houses, 200-odd storage pits, 6 kilns, 250 tombs, and more than 10,000 stone tools and everyday articles. These artifacts have proven extremely valuable to archaeologists and scholars from other disciplines who study prehistoric and ancient Chinese peoples. Mo Read More

Classroom Lesson Series Women and Confucianism ©1996 -2007 womeninworldhistory.com For 2,500 years Confucian teachings have influenced the thought and behavior of peoples in China, Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.
