Odyssey of Oddities

Introduction
As with many other traditions, the Olympics have several symbolic representations. At every Olympic game, there is a guarantee to see the
Olympic flag and the Olympic flame. Some symbols that you may not see are
the Olympic motto, oath and creed, which are also integral parts of every
Olympics.
The Olympic flag is a plain white flag that has five rings in the
center, three in the upper row, two on the lower). Each ring has its own

The Nazi Olympics
(August 1936)
Introduction
For two weeks in August 1936, Adolf Hitler's Nazi dictatorship camouflaged its racist, militaristic character while hosting the Summer Olympics. Soft-pedaling its antisemitic agenda and plans for territorial expansion, the regime exploited the Games to bedazzle many foreign spectators and journalists with an image of a peaceful, tolerant Germany.
Having rejected a proposed boycott of the 1936 Olympics, the United States and other wes ...

1994 Winter Olympics - Lillehammer - Norway
The main street of Lillehammer was an unforgettable sight that summer morning in 1988: the giant television screen transmitting direct from Soul, Norwegian television live all over the place, an enormous crowd tense with anticipation - schoolchildren and housewives, old-age pensioners and Olympic notables, journalists and politicans.
We knew that King Olav had written to Samaranch, and that Prime Misister Gro harlem Bruntland had spent quite a time a ...
