1.0 Question: What is soil made of?
2.0 Method and Materials:
2.1 Apparatus:
soil sample
spoon
microscope
microscope slide
2.2 Obtain a 500 mL sample of soil in a clear plastic container.
2.3 Pour 500 mL of water onto the soil.
2.4 Shake or stir the mixture vigorously.
2.5 Allow the contents to settle for 2 days. (Since the densest constituents will fall to the bottom first, you will observe layers of soil in the jar.)
