KANJI Kanji is what makes it a little difficult to learn Japanese. Unlike hiragana and katakana, there of tens of thousands of kanji. Each one of these characters usually has at least two ways of being pronounced. Most kanji have from four to six different pronounciations. One type of reading is a native Japanese reading and the other is the original Chinese reading.
