New Brunswick Ghost Stories are written by various authors in and around New Brunswick. All though some of the stories have been proven to be not so mysterious some you will find quite spooky. So if you have a weak heart or find yourself unable to watch old episodes of Hitchcock Presents without leaving the lights on I would suggest that you might want to do the same with New Brunswick Ghost Stories....
These first stories were taken from the New Brunswick Reader in celebration of Hall ...

From the Archives:
Ghosts Stories Told by Students
For many generations, just before Halloween, the upperclasswomen at Wells have told ghost stories to the Underclasswomen. These stories are passed down orally from class to class, and are therefore constantly changing, as each storyteller adds her own bits or changes things around to suit her own style. At some point in the early 1990s, several of the traditional stories were written down, and the Archives obtained copies of the s ...

California Hill
First of all, let me explain that I grew up in a small community out in the country known as California. There had been a time when it was a thriving community with a post office, general store, hotel, church and a school. Up until a few years ago the old one room school house still remained on the hill, however, it burned to the ground when it was being remodeled into a dwelling. The new owners did not give ...

Ke La'pu ili'o Ka Nuuanu
The Ghost Dog of Nuuanu
In Nuuanu Valley, more then any other place in Honolulu, does ancient Hawaii come into its own.
One feels the ghosts of the ancients when night crawls into the folds of the mountians, and then wraps the valley in remote and mysterious silences.
Nuuanu is old in spite of its facade of mordern clipboard houses and formal gardens.
Kamehameha's warriors once marched up this valley.. it is the resting place of Hawaiian kings.

THE GHOST IN OUR HOUSE ! COLLEGE PARK, GA 1973
Ghosts are a fascinating subject, as you will read more about on this page today. The image above has been enhanced for clarity and was photographed in July 1998 from an upstairs bathroom window in our former home in College Park, Georgia. The schematic diagram below shows the third story where all the events described occurred during that summer of 1973. The recent sighting is also noted. Presently we are in contact with a woman who knew the ...

The Founding Family Still Watches Over Us
The grounds of Sweet Briar College, founded in 1901, have changed little in the past century, except for the college buildings and a bit more open land. These were the lands of the Fletcher and Williams families. Their presence can still be felt at odd times and in odd places.
Most members of the family are buried on Monument Hill, which rises above the College and from whose summit one can look down on the College buildi ...

The story of Halloween goes back over 2000 years to the ancient Celts. Druidic priests regarded the day as the end of the year. Not only was it their day for celebrating the year's harvest, but October 31 itself was also the day of Samhain, a festival for honoring the dead. In order to appease the wandering spirits they believed roamed at night, the Celtic priests made fires in which they burned sacrifices, made charms, and cast spells.
Portions of the Celtic holiday of the dead eventually p ...

Did You Say (gulp!) G-g-ghosts?
Mysterious footsteps . . . misty apparitions . . . playful pranks . . . empty rockers rocking . . . . Some say the true soul of an old town is its ghosts, and the southern coast region has more specters than golfers. (We're not complaining.) Sleep in a historic house long enough--a night or two might do it--and you're likely to make an eerie acquaintance! Insiders take their ectoplasms seriously because, as the following oft-told tidbits suggest ...

(and Rosalynn's of a Ghost)
President Carter's "UFO" Is Identified as the Planet Venus
by Robert Sheaffer
(published in The Humanist magazine, July-August, 1977, p.46)
President Jimmy Carter's widely-reported "UFO sighting," which he made public while Governor of Georgia, was in fact a misidentification of the planet Venus. Several errors of identification within Mr. Carter's report demonstrate that the eyewitness testimony of even a future ...

Part I: The Lyric Theater: An Unusual Place
The stories I have to tell you are set at the old Lyric Theater in downtown Blacksburg, Virginia. The theater belonged to some friends of mine, the Kelseys, who had owned various incarnations of the business for decades. When I was just starting graduate school at Virginia Tech, in 1988, the theater was past its prime, aging, soon to suffer a death blow when an eight-screen theater complex opened at a n ...
