NSIPP is no longer maintaining these pages El Niņo Southern Oscillation The one to two year time scale of the El Niņo Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon makes it the most easily observed global scale climate change event. The large areal size of the event produces ramifications for seasonal weather trends world wide. On these pages, you will find information about the state of the tropical Pacific Ocean as viewed from space as well a multi-lingual primer on ENSO and its teleconnections to world-wide weather patterns. Also included are links to visualizations of the ENSO phenomenon, related ENSO research at Goddard Space Flight Center and other selected facilities around the globe. Maintained by NSIPP Group
