The fuss about soya beans …
In a sledgehammer-esque marketing strategy, genetically engineered soya beans from the US are being sold around the world without labels distinguishing them from the non-modified variety. And those beans have had a tough time.
As the first genetically modified food to hit the shops, they're copping generic flak from the entire anti-biotechnology brigade. But it's the labelling issue that's riled consumer groups the world over, because:

What is Genetic Engineering?
Genetic Engineering is the heritable, directed alteration of an organism.
A heritable alteration is a change that can be carried from one generation to the next. Genetic engineering is performed by modifying an organism's own DNA or introducing new DNA to perform desired functions.
