Organized at St. Louis, MO, September & October, 1861. Fremont's Campaign in MO September to November, 1861. At Rolla till January, 1862. Mustered out 1/8/1862. Source of Data: "A Compendium of the War of the Rebellion, V.III" by Frederick H. Dyer. This regiment was raised in OH, with Co. A from Cincinnati & Co. E & F from Shelby County.

Civil War Soldiers, Carroll County, Tennessee

These are some of the men believed to have been residents of Carroll County when they enlisted for service in the Civil War. Although only one regiment is listed, many served in more than one regiment during the war. This was especially true of the Confederates. Some men even served in both armies. Enlistment in the other army was sometimes done to gain release from prison in both North and South.
