Pinhole Photography The pinhole camera or camera obscura is one of the oldest optical devices. Pinhole photography is lensless photography, ligth passes through the hole and an image is formed. Legend has it that pinhole was discovered by an Arab who saw, on his awakening, a marvelous vision on the wall of his tent. Then he realized that the "vision" was an image produced by a little hole in the tent. This legend may or may not be true. Certainly the Chinese and the Greeks kn ...

Welcome to my Pinhole Camera Page A recent interest is the pinhole camera. This particular one is made from 6mm birch veneer. When I was designing this camera I chose to make the focal length 120mm. My first experiments with a flat image produces exposures that were correct in the center area, however the outer limits were very under exposed. So with a compass I layed out a semi circle with a radius of 120mm(4.72") and used only 254mm(10") of the arc which is the length of the paper n ...

Pinhole Photography or, how to use a REALLY cheap camera Click here to see my other page Many people have emailed me to ask how to get started with pinhole photography. Finally, I have taken the time to put together some instructions. They are at the bottom of the page. First, a comic strip! Photography with a Pinhole Camera Robert Alber Back to Basics Taking pictures with a pinhole camera is one of the simplest forms of the photographic process. But wonderfully, making and using a pinhole camera provides the student with an understanding and appreciation for not only photography, but human physiology, chemistry, light physics, mathematics, art and possibly, a little magic. All cameras, from the most sophisticated to the pinhole, rely on the same elementary prin ...

Pinhole Photography Pinhole Information Kits, Images and Pinhole Camera Kits Pinhole photography is, simply, photography without a lens... a glass lens, that is. A pinhole actually creates an image, just the way a lens does, by allowing light to pass through it to the film. Pinhole photography doesn't have to be a grade school science project. Pinholes are capable of quite a lot and, with a little knowledge and care, the images produced with them can be very fine. By calculating the optimum pinhole size for a given focal length you can obtain very sharp images, particularly when coupled with large format films. PINHOLE CAMERA KIT PINHOLE INFORMATION KIT

I have dabbled in photography since grade school and recently became involved with pinhole photography purely by accident while surfing through Yahoo!'s photography category. I came across pinhole photography and was fascinated by the visceral/surrealistic quality of the photographs and images. Most people build their own pinhole cameras but you can also buy them as well. The images below were taken with the Robert Rigby 4x5 pinhole camera, Kevin Finney 4x5 Pinhole/Zonepla ...
