Introduction Welcome to the Celtic-Latin Word-List, a working checklist of distinctive vocabulary found in the texts being treated by the Royal Irish Academy's Dictionary of Medieval Latin from Celtic Sources (DMLCS) project. The List takes the form of a browsable, lemmatized, alphabetical list consisting mostly of two kinds of words: vocabulary that is foreign to Classical Latin and would not be found in a standard Latin dictionary, and Classical vocabulary that appears in unusual forms in our texts. Menu The words in the List are filed according to their initial letters, which can be selected for browsing. Latin Verb Conjugator latin.zip contains four files: 'latin.exe' (the executable), 'latin.dat' (data file containing verb information), 'readme' (instructions) and 'history' (description of features after the initial version). The program is very simple - just type 'latin' at the DOS prompt and you will be tested on conjugation of the five model regular verbs (laudare, monere, ducere, audire and capere), and the five model deponent verbs (horari, fateri, sequi, moliri, pati). 'readme' provides instructions on how you can add more verbs of your own (simply following the format in 'latin.dat'). Mail me any comments, feeback and suggestions - they will be greatly appreciated.

LATIN 1: THE EASY WAY (c) 1999 by C.J. Cherryh I used to teach this subject. I use a method that's a little different than the standard, a method aimed at results, not tradition, and no need to learn grammar at the outset, when you've got enough new things to learn. If you learned by the traditional method you may find this radically different; but trust me. If this is new to you...give it a try. Download this file and work with the pieces and see if you don't think this is easier than legend ...

Return to the Romance Languages page. LATIN: the father of the Romance languages BASIC INFORMATION Every great Western society sees itself as better for having held on to inherited Roman traditions. As well as having served as the language of an empire that once ruled over a fourth of the world's population, today, the variant named Church or Ecclesiastical Latin is the official language of the Vatican, and language instructors the world over hold onto it as though it were still ver ...

Here you will find some easy Latin texts. Even if you have seen more difficult ones before, you may find these worth a try. In fact, reading should be easy. Whenever you get the impression of hardly making your way through the jungle, it is likely that you have picked up the wrong text. A good text is the one you can jog through – most of the time, that is. Occasional uphills and downhills are there to keep you awake. Another point is that reading should be extensive rather than intensive. Ph ...

This may generate many hundreds of thousands of "words" that one can construct over all the declensions and conjugations. But this is a modest, student-size dictionary. The point of this tool is to help in simple translations for a beginning Latin student or amateur. A few hundred prefixes and suffixes further enlarge the range. These will ...
